Voting Matters

While scanning Facebook recently, I ran across a post by one of my friends in which he was talking about withholding the #BlackVote until we get our own party.  **Check out the All Matters Black Podcast above.

While I do believe we need our own political party, and with our buying power I know that it is completely doable, I don't feel that withholding our vote will accomplish anything.

In fact, I believe it could set us back even further. Think back to the last presidential (2016) election when many of us did not vote.👀😡 We got an idiot in the White House because many of us withheld or just split the vote, and for the last 4 years he and his posse have tried to undo everything that President Obama and his administration accomplished. Hell I'm guilty, too! I voted for an independent. BIG MISTAKE.  Never again...

The presidential election will be held on November 3, 2020.  Everyone needs to be registered 30 days prior to the election.
IT IS IMPERATIVE THIS YEAR THAT EVERYONE REGISTERS AND ACTUALLY VOTES.
We can NOT take another 4 years of the idiocy in the White House.  #VoteOrDie

Let's Talk About It.

#ACCOUNTABILITY
I believe that we all can agree that EVERYONE that is of sound mind and healthy body should be held accountable for their own actions. So with that being said...

When will we hold ourselves and each other accountable?

Speaking specifically to MY PEOPLE. The people that I identify with, and the people in which I spend most time and share most cultural traditions and aspects with.

I am talking about BLACK AMERICAN people.
So, please do not be offended if you read something you don't like or don't necessarily agree with.  Please don't be in your feelings about any of my opinions either...

I welcome your opinion as well.  Differences in opinion makes for great dialogue and y'all know I like to talk!  Check out the podcast at https://anchor.fm/all-matters-black

Where does the change begin?

We are all sick of griping and complaining.

ARE WE MAD YET?

When will we begin to unite and start solving some of these issues.  Most immediately, #PoliceBrutality.

At the time of this original post, we were fresh off the murder of yet two other black people, Breonna Taylor and George Floyd.  Since then, there has been the murder of Rayshard Brooks-- a black man found sleeping in his car in a drive-thru, and several hangings in which some have tried to say they were suicides.  NOW WE KNOW DAMN WELL NO BLACK PERSON HAS CLIMBED A TREE AND HANGED THEMSELVES.  Lets be very clear about this!

Please be careful and aware. When possible, travel in groups.  I urge each and everyone of US to train ourselves and families to properly maintain, use and legally purchase a firearm. It is our constitutional right to possess weapons to protect ourselves, our families, and our property.  Other's do it.  Why NOT us?

ARE WE LISTENING?

Let's talk about our ECONOMIC POWER.  I think that I will do a podcast on this topic really soon.  We need to discuss things like BUILDING, REPAIRING, and MAINTAINING CREDIT.  We need to talk about collaboration and building generational wealth and a whole bunch of other stuff.

If you would like to participate in the podcast or know someone that would be a great panelist, please drop an email to ALLMattersBlack@gmail.com.

JUNETEENTH was yesterday and many people made it their mission to #BUYBLACKONLY! We should be doing this all the time or as often as possible.  Check out the establishment that me and my girls visited on yesterday.  Take the time to stop by... #NotJustChocolate

Changing the Narrative and Writing #OurStory!

For over 400 years Black Americans, the American Descendants of Slaves (ADOS), have been physically kept in bondage, hampered by unfair and unjust laws, lynched, beaten, killed, had our families separated, and too many other atrocities to name in this space. There is NOT one race of people that has endured as much injustice and down-right HELL as the Black American.  Yet, some believe and insist that Jesus will save us if we faint not.  Well... I'm tired of not fainting.  It's time for us to faint, fall out, get mad, get up and TAKE what is rightful our's.  It is time to take control of our lives and that means telling OUR STORY

Check out the link below of Jayleen Record from Madison High School class of 2020, to see what #ChangingTheNarrative and writing #OurStory looks like.  This young man is a product of OUR neighborhood, he is a shining example of what hard work and perseverance can accomplish.  Follow the link...

CALL TO ACTION #AhmaudArbery

Here we are again with the same old shit!!! Another Young Black Man murdered, in broad daylight, by two good old boys! AND THEY ARE STILL RUNNING AROUND FREE.  THAT WAS BACK IN FEBRUARY!

When will it end? NEVER!

It will never end because they will always be afraid. They aren't afraid of Black Men, they are afraid of being eliminated.  Until we truly understand that, we will never be rid of RACISM.  At this point, it is a matter of survival.  We are being hunted down for annihilation.

GET THAT STRAIGHT.  THE INTENT IS TO ELIMINATE US. If you eliminate the man, you leave the woman vulnerable. You take away her security.  Once you take away her security, she is open for attack. Once you have the woman under control, you can control her children.  The children hold the future.  Destroy the children, forget about the future.

DO YOU SEE WHAT IS HAPPENING?

Did we not learn anything from slavery? If we stand by and continue to let them LYNCH us, they will continue to do it.  It's time to MOBILIZE and TAKE IT TO THE STREETS!

Where's the TASK FORCE? The Stirring committees? The Moratoriums? Yea... wishful thoughts at best. NO ONE and I mean NO ONE is coming to save us.

WE WILL HAVE TO SAVE OURSELVES.

Adverse Childhood Experiences

THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM.

As mentioned in the previous post, roughly 60% of adults surveyed reported that they had experienced at least 1 ACE. (CDC.gov)
What are the consequences of adverse childhood experiences?

We know that prolonged trauma can lead to health issues, including heart disease and depression.
There is a direct correlation between heart disease and diet and many black communities are food deserts.

Let's talk access...

Access to quality food, health care, and education is a major issue for black people.  Our communities seem to be forgotten when it comes to these critical need areas.

WE NEED access to quality health care to prevent disease from spreading and reduce the rate of premature death due to otherwise preventable ailments such as diabetes and early heart disease and stroke.  In 2016, Texas ranked second behind Mississippi with 17.9% of adults not having been seen by a doctor in at least 12 months because of cost!💲💲💲

WE NEED access to quality schools with experienced teachers.  Inner city or urban schools are most often staffed with the least experienced teachers, equipped with limited resources and inadequate training opportunities.

Lastly, mental health care is an area that traditionally we don't discuss and it is literally killing us. We are suffering mentally from depression, loneliness, drug dependency, domestic violence, grief, anxiety, and so on.  Too long have we been neglected and tossed aside and put into positions where we are being incarcerated in prisons and mental institutions at alarming rates.

Check out the links on the sidebar for related services.  Please drop your comments and feedback in the comments.  We are in this together, but in order for us to get it together, we will have to work together.

This is #OurFight!

Some children are at greater risk than others for ACEs.
